Modern Slavery Statement
Marylebone Man and Van Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Marylebone Man and Van in respect of the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. Marylebone Man and Van provides removals, transport, and associated services, and we recognise our responsibility to conduct business ethically and transparently.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
Marylebone Man and Van has a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, child labour, and exploitation. We are committed to acting with integrity and ensuring that the people who work for us, and with us, do so of their own free will, are treated with dignity, and receive fair working conditions.
We expect the same high standards from all our employees, agency staff, contractors, and suppliers. Any indication that modern slavery may be present in our business or supply chain will be treated as a serious breach of our values and may result in termination of contracts and notification to relevant authorities where appropriate.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Our core services include local and regional man and van operations, house and office removals, and related transport activities. Our supply chain includes vehicle leasing and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packaging providers, recruitment and labour agencies, and cleaning and facilities services.
We recognise that some areas of our supply chain may present a higher risk of labour exploitation, particularly where lower-skilled or temporary labour is used. We are committed to assessing and addressing these risks proportionately and effectively.
Supplier Standards and Audits
Marylebone Man and Van requires suppliers and contractors to comply with all applicable laws relating to employment, labour, and human rights. We expect our suppliers to operate in line with our zero-tolerance stance on modern slavery.
We conduct due diligence checks on new key suppliers, which may include requesting information about their labour practices, policies on modern slavery, and any previous issues or investigations. Where we consider there to be a higher risk, we may undertake more detailed assessments or request evidence of controls and staff training.
We reserve the right to audit suppliers to verify compliance with our standards and legal obligations. These audits may be conducted directly by Marylebone Man and Van or by suitably qualified third parties. Where non-compliance is identified, we seek to work with suppliers on remedial actions, but we will not hesitate to suspend or terminate relationships where serious or persistent issues remain unresolved.
Policies, Training, and Employee Responsibility
Our internal policies reinforce our commitment to preventing modern slavery and set out expectations for professional conduct, recruitment, and treatment of staff. Managers responsible for engaging contractors or suppliers must ensure that appropriate checks are undertaken and that any concerns are escalated promptly.
We are working to enhance staff awareness of modern slavery indicators and to ensure that those involved in procurement, recruitment, and supplier management understand how to identify and respond to potential risks.
Reporting Concerns and Safe Reporting Channels
Marylebone Man and Van encourages all employees, contractors, suppliers, and others connected with our operations to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns can be raised in person with line managers, senior management, or via established internal reporting channels.
All reports will be treated seriously and, as far as reasonably possible, confidentially. No person will suffer retaliation or detrimental treatment for raising a concern in good faith, even if it is not substantiated. Where appropriate, we will investigate allegations and, if necessary, involve external authorities.
Monitoring, Review, and Continuous Improvement
We are committed to continual improvement in our approach to tackling modern slavery. We review our modern slavery risks, controls, and procedures at least annually, considering any changes in our business activities, supply chains, or legal requirements.
The outcome of this review may include updating our policies, strengthening supplier due diligence and audits, enhancing staff training, and refining our reporting mechanisms. This Modern Slavery Statement will be updated annually to reflect our ongoing efforts and progress.
This statement has been approved by the management of Marylebone Man and Van and represents our commitment to uphold human rights, fairness, and integrity throughout our business and supply chains.
